My ‘season’

Me and my Lady Pants special made to measure pants for when your dog has its season
Me and my Lady Pants

I have had a bit of a miserable month, I have been having my “season” not quite sure what that is but I am not a happy doggie. I feel miserable and uncomfortable and not been getting our long walks on the beach. Mum says that is because the beach dogs will not leave me alone. I may be small but I am fierce and if they bother me too much I will bite their nose but mum does not want trouble, so lots of little walks!!  Mum also made me wear a funny outfit, now I know she does not like dressing me up so I was not sure why I had to wear these but she told me it help protect her furniture from my ‘season’.  I am very good a keeping myself clean but mum has new furniture and carpets and did not want them marking. I won’t tell her but it was quite comfortable to wear as she had it specially made for me  and I heard her saying she was ordering another one for me for my next season – apparently I have two of them a year. Mum orders mine from Glenndarcy dog Pants and they are really well made. Mum does not want me to have babies and I am to have an operation soon but as I was too overweight when I came to mum I have had to lose weight before I can have the operation. Apparently I was so cute everyone used to give me treats like cake and sugar cubes but mum won’t let me have any but the special ones she buys. I miss my cakes and treats but I like all the special cuddles and attention more.

My Vet Visit

Cocker spaniels using car harnesses

Well I am not too sure about my new friend, Vet! Mum took me to visit him last week. We went on a car ride and she told me I behaved very well. I stayed on the back seat where I was told too, although I can’t see why I can’t sit on her knee, there is a much better view from there.  Mum asked me to write on here does anyone have any experience with car harnesses? If so can they let her know which ones they would recommend, it seems she can’t find one she likes.  So went to visit her friend Vet; mum told me I would really like him and he would give me my injections.  I didn’t know what they were but they sounded really important. Well it was ok at first, lots of ladies came to pat me and tell me I was lovely, now who doesn’t like that. One lady even gave me a treat, well she gave it mum and she gave it to me – she told me it was special chocolate for doggies. Apparently the chocolate she eats could really harm me if I ate it so she hides it very high up so I can’t reach it.  I had just settled down for a snooze when I heard my name called and we went into another room, it sort of echoed in there and there was this big metal table which mum sat me on. A man came in and he and mum chatted and I heard ‘important she has injections’ I thought that might be like the treats in the other room. It wasn’t! Mum and the man talked really nice to me and then he held my neck and I felt a sharp prick. It hurt and I whimpered, mum stroked me and said I would be fine…huh I am not sure and then the vet gave me something yucky to eat but said it would make me feel so much better. Don’t know what worms are but maybe he should give it to them next time instead of me and then he put something sticky on the back of my neck. To top all of that he poked in my ears and looked at my teeth. Nope not impressed! Then as we were going out the door, and I was thinking ” great all over”  he said see you in 3 months for your chip!!. Oh no!!

Dogs and Cats – living together

When I first came to live with my mum and Thomas it was really scary. I didn’t know what was happening. This strange Lady (now my mum) kept stroking me and talking in a lovely quiet voice – even when I had an accident! I am clever she says because I only ever had the one accident in the house. I am so clever she thinks but I know I now have a home and you take care of your own den. Thomas and I kept very much apart at the beginning, I was afraid of him but he just watched me, didn’t attack me and bite me. Mum used to stroke him as well as me and gradually we could be in the same room together and now we are friends. My mum reads a lot from this machine she says it’s very helpful, she says this site gave her ideas to help me and Thomas be friends.

When I first came to my new home, I was a bit scared of everything, so many new things. My food came in a bowl!! Really I didn’t know you had to eat out of it. At the centre I had to hide all my food so the other dogs would not eat it all. I also had to eat quickly or they stole it. It took mum 3 days to persuade me to eat out of the bowl, still not sure why she was upset when I hid the chicken meat under the pillow – I thought it was such a safe place to put it. I know now, so I only hide my treats when she gives them me. I have a great place under the rug except that pesky oops friend of mine sometimes like to play with them to annoy me…I don’t mind sharing though. Mum sat on the floor with me every meal time and handed me my food, she encouraged me to eat it there then she showed me the food in the bowl. As I am clever I soon learnt. Mum was really clever too; she got me a bowl in a stand so my ears could keep out of my food. Go mum…
